Project Description
for project one I started out by looking at just cranial deformation and two cultures where it was most prevalent it then took a different turn by looking more at the culture of the United States more specifically the body modification sub culture. From there I needed to look at how someone from one with an elongated skull would be judged or excepted. This made me take a more in depth look at how my mind (or head) was shaped over the years to think of certain groups in specific ways. Overall this project helped me to learn more about multiple cultures all over the world and what each of their cultural body modifications mean to them and look more into how judgmental the united states can be.

Art
For art I took multiple body modifications that are popular in the United States and sculpted them on to smaller skulls. Some of the more obvious ones that look shocking are the spikes on the top of the head that are made of metal. Another more obvious body modifications is the filing and adding on to the teeth to create an almost animal look appearance some one who is famous for having this modification is Dennis Smith or tiger-man. |
English
For english I took a more in depth look at might life and my influences over the entirety of my life to see what really defines me as me it also helped me to find out how your mind can be shaped over the years into not liking certain groups of people because that what you have always been told or dress a certain way because you think name brands define who you are or if everything is cleaned and pressed.

History
For history I focused on the beauty ideals of the United States and how that influences choices people can make in my research I found out that we have a lot of beauty ideals that some countries would find distasteful like our need for tan skin or the hunt for a perfectly shaped body with a symmetrical face. Also I took someone from one of the cultures with elongated skulls and dropped them into America to see how what another culture sees as beauty may not be excepted everywhere.
